இலங்கை அரசாங்க சபைத் தேர்தல், 1931

இலங்கை அரசாங்க சபைக்கான முதலாவது தேர்தல் 1931 ஆம் ஆண்டு சூன் 13 முதல் சூன் 20 வரை இடம்பெற்றது[1]. பிரித்தானியக் குடியேற்ற நாடு ஒன்றில் இடம்பெற்ற வயது வந்தவர்கள் அனைவரும் கலந்து கொண்ட முதலாவது தேர்தல் முறையாகும்.[2]

பின்னணி தொகு

1931 இல் டொனமூர் அரசியலமைப்பு அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டு முன்னர் இருந்து வந்த இலங்கை சட்டசபைக்குப் பதிலாக இலங்கை அரச சபை உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. 58 உறுப்பினர்களில் 50 பேர் பொதுமக்களாலும், 8 பேர் பிரித்தானிய ஆளுநரினாலும் நியமிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

பழைய சட்டசபை 1931 ஏப்ரல் 17இல் கலைக்கப்பட்டு, புதிய அரசாங்க சபைக்கான மனுக்கள் 1931 மே 4 இல் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டது[3]. டொனமூர் ஆணைக்குழு இலங்கைக்கு மேலாட்சி (டொமினியன்) அந்தஸ்து வழங்காத காரணத்தால் யாழ்ப்பாண இளைஞர் காங்கிரஸ் இத்தேர்தலைப் புறக்கணிக்குமாறு மக்களைக் கோரியது[3]. இதனையடுத்து இலங்கையின் வட மாகாணத்தில் நான்கு தொகுதிகளில் (யாழ்ப்பாணம், காங்கேசன்துறை, ஊர்காவற்துறை, பருத்தித்துறை) தேர்தல் மனுக்கள் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்படவில்லை[3]. அத்துடன், ஒன்பது தொகுதிகளில் உறுப்பினர்கள் போட்டியின்றித் தேர்தெடுக்கப்பட்டனர்[3]. ஏனைய 37 தொகுதிகளுக்கும் தேர்தல்கள் 1931 சூன் 13 முதல் 20 வரை இடம்பெற்றன. வட மாகாணத்துக்கான இடைத்தேர்தல்கள் 1934 இல் இடம்பெற்றன.
