விளக்கம் தொகு

2004 ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்தியக் குடியுரிமை சட்டத்தில் செய்யப்பட்ட திருத்தங்களின்படி, (அசாம் மாநிலம் தவிர) இந்தியாவில் வாழும் தாயோ, தந்தையோ இந்தியராக இருந்து அவர்களுக்கு 1987 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கு முன்னர் பிறந்த குழந்தைகள் அனைவரும் இந்தியர்களாகவே கருதப்படுவார்கள். அசாம் மாநிலத்தை பொருத்தவரை இந்த காலக்கெடு 1971 ஆம் ஆண்டாக குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது என இந்திய அரசு அதிகாரி தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.[27]
