== பிரிட்டிஷ் இந்தியாவில் அவைத்தலைவர்கள் ==

[[பிரித்தானியாவின் இந்தியப் பேரரசு|பிரிட்டிஷ் இந்தியப் பேரரசின்]] ஒரு அங்கமாகிய ஒருங்கிணைந்த சென்னை மாகாணத்தில் 1920-371920–37 இல் இரட்டை ஆட்சி முறை அமலில் இருந்தது. அம்முறையில் ஓரங்க (unicameral) சட்டமன்றம் ''[[மெட்ராஸ் லெஜிஸ்லேட்டிவ் கவுன்சில்]]'' என்றழைக்கப்பட்டது. அதன் தலைவர்கள் ''பிரசிடன்ட்'' என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டனர். 1937 இல் மாநில சுயாட்சி முறை அமல்படுத்தப் பட்டது. அம்முறையில் சட்டமன்றத்தில் இரு அவைகள் இருந்தன – ''கவுன்சில்'' என்றழைக்கப் பட்ட மேலவையின் தலைவர் ''சேர்மன்'' எனவும், ''அசம்பிளி'' என்றழைக்கப் பட்ட கீழவையின் தலைவர் ''ஸ்பீக்கர்'' எனவும் வழங்கப்பட்டனர்.<ref>{{Citecite book| last =Johari | first =J. == இந்தியக் குடியரசில் அவைத் தலைவர்கள் ==
