கணேசன் தன்னைவிட சமூக அந்தஸ்த்தில் குறைவாக இருப்பதால் மகனின் காதலை பரசுராமன் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளவில்லை. இதற்கிடையே ஒரு நாள், ஸ்ரீராம் ரகுவைப் பின்பற்றியபோது கீதாவுடனான (சுகன்யா)அவரது உறவைப் பற்றி தெரிந்து கொள்கிறான். ஸ்ரீராம் அவர்களது தகாத உறவெனக் கருதி கோபமடைகிறான். ஆனால் ரகு, கல்லூரி நாட்களில் கீதாவும் அவனும் காதல் கொண்டிருந்தனர் என்ற பழங்கதையை சொல்கிறார். தான் காதலித்து வரும் சமயத்தில் கீதா ரகுவிடம் எவ்வித தகவலும் சொல்லாமல் எங்கேயோ சென்று விடுகிறார். இதற்கிடையே சில வருடங்கள் கழித்து ரகுவிற்கு ராஜேஸ்வரியுடன் திருமணம் நடைபெறுகிறது. ஒருநாள் கீதாவிடமிருந்து தன்னை சந்திக்குமாறு தொலைபேசியில் அழைக்கிறார். அந்த சந்திப்பில் கீதா தனக்கு மூளையில் ஒரு கட்டி ஏற்பட்டு தான் மிகவும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாக தெரிவிக்கிறார். ரகுவிடமிருந்து தான் விலகி இருக்க முடிவு செய்ததற்கு இதுதான் காரணமென்றும், தான் கடைசி நாட்களை சந்திக்கும்போது, ரகு தன்னுடனேயே இருக்கும்படி கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறார். இதை ரகுவும் ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறார்.
Sriram falls in love with Janaki (Sulekha), daughter of Ganesan ([[Delhi Ganesh]]), a cook. Sriram gets Rajeshwari's help to convince Parasuraman about his love. But Parasuraman does not accept his son’s love as Ganesan is from low societal status. One day, Sriram follows Raghu and comes to know about his relationship with Geetha ([[Sukanya (actress)|Sukanya]]). Sriram gets angered thinking that they are in illegitimate relationship. But Raghu tells a flashback that both he and Geetha were in love during college days, and suddenly Geetha went away without informing Raghu. After a few years Raghu got married to Rajeshwari, and recently, he got a call from Geetha. While meeting, Raghu got to know that Geetha was suffering from brain tumor, and that was the reason she decided to stay away from Raghu. As she approached her last days, Geetha requested Raghu to be near her during her death for which he accepted.
ஸ்ரீராம் கீதாவின் நிலைமையை புரிந்து கொள்கிறான். மேலும் கீதாவுடன் நட்புடன் இருக்கிறான். ஒரு நாள், கீதாவின் நிலை தீவிரமாகிறது. ரகு ஒரு வியாபாரக் கூட்டத்திற்கு சென்று இருப்பதால் ஸ்ரீராம் கீதாவை மருத்துவமனையில் கொண்டு சேர்க்கிறான். கீதா மருத்துவமனையில் இறந்துவிடுகிறார். ஸ்ரீராம், கீதாவை மருத்துவமனைக்கு அழைத்துச் செல்லும்போது, அவனது தந்தை பரசுராமன் ஸ்ரீராம் இன்னொரு பெண்ணுடன் உறவு கொண்டிருப்பதை தவறாக புரிந்து கொண்டு அவனை திட்டுகிறார். ஸ்ரீராம் தந்தையின் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வதன் மூலம் தனது சகோதரனின் திருமண வாழ்க்கையை எவ்வித பாதிப்புக்கும் உள்ளாக்க விரும்பவில்லை. தான் இல்லாத போது கீதாவின் மரணத்திற்குப் பின் எல்லா சடங்குகளையும் செய்ததற்காக ஸ்ரீராமுக்கு ரகு நன்றி கூறுகிறான்.
Sriram understands the situation and befriends Geetha. One day, Geetha’s condition gets serious, and Sriram rushes her to the hospital, as Raghu is away for a business meeting. Geetha dies in the hospital. Parasuraman spots Sriram along with Geetha while he took her to the hospital, misunderstands that Sriram is in relationship with another girl, and scolds him. Sriram accepts the blame as he does not want his brother’s marriage life to be spoiled by revealing the truth. Raghu thanks Sriram for taking care of all the formalities after Geetha’s death during his absence.

Parasuraman’s daughter’s wedding is fixed, and Raghu has to travel to Chidambaram on the day before the marriage for a business meeting. The train in which Raghu travels meets with an accident. Sriram gets the information and rushes to the railway station and is shocked to see Raghu’s name in the passengers’ death list. Sriram does not inform this to his family as he does not want his sister’s wedding to be cancelled because of this. Sriram hides the information and pretends to be happy in front of others. Meanwhile, everyone starts looking for Raghu as he is expected to return on the day of marriage. Sriram lies that Raghu’s meeting got extended, and he is unable to attend the wedding.
அனைவருக்கும் ஆச்சரியமாக, அப்போது ரகு திடீரென்று திருமண மண்டபத்திற்கு உயிருடன் திரும்பி வருகிறார். ரகுவுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட புகைவண்டி விபத்து பற்றி ஸ்ரீராம் கேட்கிறார். ரகு, கடைசி நிமிடத்தில் ரயிலில் ஏறத் தவறிவிட்டதாகவும், இறுதி நேரத்தில் தான் ஒரு காரை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, கூட்டத்திற்கு சென்றதாகவும் அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக விபத்தில் இருந்து தப்பியதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கிறார். மேலும் தான் கூட்டங்களில் கவனமாக இருந்ததால் அவர்களிடம் இதைப் பற்றி கூற இயலவில்லை என தெரிவித்து அனைவரிட்மும் அவர் மன்னிப்பு கோருகிறார். ஸ்ரீராம் தனது சகோதரியிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துபவராகவும், பாசம் கொண்டவராகவும் இருப்பதால் அவளது திருமணத்தை ரத்து செய்ய விரும்பாத காரணத்தை அறிந்த பரசுராமன் ஸ்ரீராமை பாராட்டைத் தொடங்குகிறார். இதற்கிடையில் ரகு, கீதாவுடனான தனது உறவைப் பற்றிய உண்மையைத் தெரிவிக்கிறார். மேலும் ஸ்ரீராம் மற்றும் கீதாவிற்குள் எவ்விதத் தொடர்பும் இல்லை என்று தெளிவுபடுத்துகிறார். கீதாவைப் பற்றிய உண்மையை மறைத்து வைத்ததற்காக ராஜேஸ்வரியிடம் ரகு மன்னிப்பு கேட்கிறார். இறுதியில், ஸ்ரீராம் ஜானகியை திருமணம் செய்துகொள்கிறார்.
Parasuraman’s daughter’s wedding is done, and now Sriram informs about Raghu’s death to everyone. All the family members get shocked hearing this. To everyone’s surprise, Raghu suddenly comes alive to the wedding hall. Sriram inquires about the train accident to Raghu. Raghu informs that he missed boarding the train at the last minute, and he finally took a car, and luckily he was escaped from the accident. He apologizes to everyone as he did not inform about this to them, as he was busy with the meetings. Now, Parasuraman understands Sriram’s responsible behavior and affection towards his sister, as he does not want her wedding to be cancelled, and starts praising Sriram. Meanwhile, Raghu also informs the truth about his relationship with Geetha and clarifies that Sriram is no way connected to her. Raghu also apologizes to Rajeshwari for hiding the truth about Geetha which she forgives immediately. At the end, Sriram gets married to Janaki.
