எனினும், பெனிசிலியத்தின் [[நுண்ணுயிர்ப் பெருக்கத் தடுப்பு]] இயல்பு பற்றிப் பலரும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளனர். இது குறித்த முதல் குறிப்பு 1875 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்குரியது. அப்போது [[ஜான் டிண்டால்]] (John Tyndall) என்பவர் இது பற்றி இலண்டனில் உள்ள அரச சங்கத்துக்கு (Royal Society) அறிவித்துள்ளார்.
