I was born and raised in America. Until a year ago, I only knew Tamil from hearing relatives speak and watching Tamil movies and Sun TV -- since then I have started reading Tamil news articles and editorials to try to expand my Tamil knowledge. I can speak "Madras bashai" fluently but I have no formal training in proper Tamil and I am using Tamil Wikipedia as a way of improving my knowledge and understanding of formal Tamil. Since joining Tamil Wikipedia six months ago my Tamil has improved a lot, but I still cannot contribute at anywhere near a native speaker's level without extensively using the dictionary. If you see me typing on talk pages in English, it is because I am not confident enough that I can properly write proper Tamil and convey the message I intend.
If you have some time to spare, please take a look at [http://tools.wikimedia.de/~nikola/articlesby.php?user=Werklorum&lang=ta&wiki=wikipedia நான் தொடங்கிய கட்டுரைகள்] and fix any language errors you can find. The more errors you fix the better I can learn Tamil. Thanks. In particular if you can take a look at the articles I have expanded (see below) I would appreciate it.
