(King of Kings am I, Osymandias. If anyone would know how great I am and where I lie, let him surpass one of my works.)

இவ்வரிகளே, ஷெல்லியின் கவிதையில் சற்றே மாற்றப்பட்டு பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஷெல்லி வாழ்ந்த காலத்தில் ராமசேசின் மாபெரும் சிலையொன்று பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்துக்காக இத்தாலிய நாடுகாண் பயணி ஜியோவானி பெல்சோனி என்பவரால் எகிப்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது. ஜனவரி 11, 1818ல் தி எக்சாமினர் என்ற இதழில் ஷெல்லியின் கவிதை வெளியானது. அதே இதழில் சில வாரங்கள் கழித்து பெப்ரவரி 1ம் தேதி ஸ்மித்தின் கவிதையும் வெளியானது.}}

On A Stupendous Leg of Granite, Discovered Standing by Itself in the Deserts of Egypt, with the Inscription Inserted Below என்று மாற்றிவிட்டார்.
