காங்கிரஸ் களை[2] (Parthenium hysterophorus) என்பது அமெரிக்க வெப்பமண்டலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சாமந்தி குடும்ப பூக்கும் தாவரம் ஆகும்.[1] இது பொதுவாக ஆங்கிலத்தில் இருவிதமாக ("Santa Maria Feverfew"; "Whitetop Weed") அழைக்கப்படுகிறது[3]. பொதுவாக, ஆக்கிரமிப்பு இனமான[4] இது இந்தியா,[5] அவுஸ்திரேலியா மற்றும் ஆப்பிரிக்காவின் பகுதிகளில் காணப்படுகின்றது. இது சிக்கல் மிகுந்த நிலங்கள், தோட்டம்[6][7][8][9][10] உட்பட புல்வெளி மற்றும் வீதியோரங்களை ஆக்கிரமிக்கும். இந்தியாவிலும் இலங்கையிலும் இது உள்ளூர் வழக்கில் காங்கிரஸ் களை என, காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியின் அரசியல் செயற்பாட்டை உவமிப்பதனால் அறியப்படுகின்றது.[11] இது ஒவ்வாமையைத் தூண்டும் ஒன்றாகவுள்ளது.[12]
நச்சியல்பு தொகு
இத்தாவரத்தினைத் தொடுவதினால் மனிதர்களுக்கு தோல் அழற்சியும் சுவாசம் தொடர்பில் ஒழுங்கின்மையும், கால்நடை மற்றும் வீட்டு விலங்குகளுக்கு தோல் அழற்சியும் ஏற்படும்.[13][14]
கட்டுப்படுத்தல் தொகு
களைகளை அழிக்கும் முக்கியமான கிளைபோசேட்டு எனும் களைக்கொல்லிக்கு எதிர்ப்புள்ளதாக பார்த்தீனியம் காணப்படுகின்றது. காமாக்சின் கலவை (600 லீட்டர் நீருக்கு 2 லீட்டர் கலவை) தாவரம் வளரும் இடங்களான பாதையோரங்கள் மற்றும் பயன்படுத்தும் நிலங்களில் பிரயோகிக்கலாம். பயிர்கள் உள்ள இடத்தில், இக்களை மீது கையினால் கலவையினை தேய்க்கலாம். தோட்டத்தில் குறைவாக இருந்தால், ஒவ்வொன்றாக பிடுங்கலாம். இல்லாவிட்டால், இது கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாதளவிற்கு மிக வேகமாக பரவிவிடும். இத்தாவரம் இளமையாக இருக்கும்போது களைக்கொல்லி பயன்படுத்தப்படல் வேண்டும்.
இலங்கை தொகு
இந்தியப்படை இலங்கையில் நிலை கொண்டிருந்த காலத்தில் மனிதர்களுக்கும், விவசாய நிலங்களுக்கும், கால்நடை மற்றும் விலங்குகளுக்கும் ஊறு விளைவிக்க இது வட- கிழக்கில் இந்தியப்படையினால் பரப்பப்பட்டதாக குற்றச்சாட்டு இருந்தது.[15] வவுனியாவில் மட்டும் 200 கெக்டயர் நிலம் இதனால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு, பல பின் விளைவுகளாக களை கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாமை மற்றும் தோல் நோய்களும் ஏற்பட்டது.[16]
