ஜேம்ஸ் பர்கெஸ்

ஜேம்ஸ் பர்கெஸ் (James Burgess (14 ஆகஸ்டு 1832[1] – 3 அக்டோபர் 1916) தொல்லியல் அறிஞரும், 1872-ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்தியத் தொல்பொருள் வரலாறு நிறுவனத்தை நிறுவியவரும் ஆவார்.[2][3]

இவர் பிரித்தானிய இந்தியாவின் மும்பை மாகாணம், சென்னை மாகாணம் மற்றும் வங்காள மாகாணம் ஆகியவற்றின் புவியியல் கழகத்தின் செயலளராக 1868 முதல் 1881 முடிய பதவி வகித்தவர். மேலும் இவர் இந்தியத் தொல்லியல் ஆய்வகத்தின் தலைமை இயக்குநராக 1886 முதல் 1889-ஆம் ஆண்டு வரை பதவி வகித்தார்.[1]
