"After this, I left Kashmir (覽波國) and entered the mountains. I travelled for eight days and arrived in Jibin (罽賓國). This country is ruled by the King of Gandhara (建馱羅). In summer, the King resides in Jibin, looking for fresh temperatures. In winter, he resides in Gandhara, looking for warmth. By doing so, he never encounters snow, he is always warm and never cold. His country of Jibin has a lot of snow in winter, and is therefore very cold. The local people are barbarians. But the King and the soldiers are Turk (突厥, "Tuque"). The clothes, speech and food are very similar to those of Tokharistan (吐火羅國). The men and the women wear the same type of clothing, a combination of fine-cloths jackets and boots. The men all have a moustache, and the women expose their hair. The land provides camels, mules, sheep, horses, donkeys, cows, fine (cotton?) cloth, rose-apples big and small, barley and wheat among others. The people of this country greatly rever the Three Jewels. There are plently of temples and monks. Everybody builds temples and venerate the Three Jewels. In the capital there is a temple called "Shasi Temple". In this temple they have bone relics of the Buddha wearing a chignon (ushnisha, 螺髻), and they are revered by the King, the dignitaries, and everybody, everyday. This country follows the Hinayana (小乘). They live in the mountains, but the summits have no vegetation. It is just as if the mountains had been scorched by fire."
