காமவ் உருசியப் பேரரசில் ஒதேசாவில் பிறந்தார். இவர் தந்தையார் பள்ளியில் உருசிய மொழியும் இலக்கியமும் பயிற்றுபவராகவும் தாயார் பெண்களுக்கு புவிப்பரப்பியலும் வரலாறும் பயிற்றுபவராகவும் இருந்துள்ளனர்..இவர் உருசிய மொழியுடன் தய்யரிடம் பிரெஞ்சும் தன் பயிற்சி ஆசிரியரிடம் செருமானிய மொழியும் இளமையிலேயே கற்றுக்கொண்டுள்ளார். இவர் தொடக்க காலத்தில் பெரும்பாலான வெளியீடுகளை பிரெஞ்சிலும் உருசியத்திலுமே வெளியிட்டுள்ளார். பின்னர் தொழில்நுட்ப நூல்களை எழுதவும் மக்கள் அறிவியல் நூல்களை எழுதவும் ஆங்கிலத்தைப் பின்பற்றத் தொடங்கியுள்ளார்.
