ரசலின் தேனீர் கேத்தல்: திருத்தங்களுக்கு இடையிலான வேறுபாடு

கோள்களைப் போல சூரியனைச் ஒரு தேனீர் கேத்தல் சுற்றுகின்றது, அதுவும் மிகச் சிறிய அல்லது மாயமான கேத்தல், உயர் ஆற்றல் மிக்க தொலைநோக்கிகளால் பாக்க முடியாத ஒரு தேனீர் கேத்தல் இவ்வாறு சுற்றுகின்றது என்று ஒருவர் கூறிகிறார். இந்த கூற்றை பிழையென நிரூபிக்க முடியாது, அதனால் இந்த கூற்று சரியென அவர் வாதிடுகிறார். இதுதான் உவமை. அதாவது மேற்கூறிய படி இல்லை என்று நிருபிக்க முடியாத ஒரு கேத்தல் வானில் சுற்றுகின்றது என்று வாதிடுவது முட்டாள்தனம்.<ref>{{cquote|The reason organized religion merits outright hostility is that, unlike belief in Russell's teapot, religion is powerful, influential, tax-exempt and systematically passed on to children too young to defend themselves.
