1947ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்தியா சுதந்திரம் பெரும்வரை, பவநகர் [[சமஸ்தானம்]] இராசபுத்திர கோஹில் குல மன்னர்கள் ஆண்டனர். விடுதலைப் பெற்ற இந்தியாவின் துணைப்பிரதமரும் உள்துறை அமைச்சரும் ஆன [[சர்தார் வல்லபாய் படேல்]] அவர்களின் பெருமுயற்சியால் 1948ஆம் ஆண்டில் பவநகர் உட்பட இந்தியாவில் இருந்த 565 சுதேச சமசுதானங்கள் [[இந்திய அரசு]]டன் இணைக்கட்டது.
