'''மார்டின் தெ போரஸ்''' (திசம்பர் 9 1579 - நவம்பர் 3 1639) ஒரு தொமினிக்கன் சபையினைச் சேர்ந்த பொது நிலை சகோதரரும், கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபையின் புனிதரும் ஆவார். இவர் கலப்பு-இன மக்கள், அமைதிக்காக துன்பப்படுவோர் முதலொயோருக்கு பாதுகாவலராகக் கருதப்படுகின்றார். இவர் தன் வாழ்நாளில் ஏழைகளுக்காக பல அனாதை இல்லங்கள், மருத்துவமனைகள் முதலியவைற்றை நிறுவினார். இவர் ஏழ்மையில் வாழ்ந்து பல கடும் தவமுயற்சிகளை செய்தார்.

''African American Registry.''</ref> [[லீமா]]வில் திசம்பர் 9 1579இல் பிறந்தவர். இவருக்கு 1581இல் பிறந்த ஒரு இளைய சகோதரியும் உண்டு. மிக வறுமையில் வாடியதால் பத்துவயதிலேயே ஒரு மருத்துவரிடம் ([[:en:Barber surgeon|Barber surgeon]]) வேளைபயில சென்றார். இந்த இளம் வயதிலேயே இரவு முழுவதும் செபிக்கும் பழக்கம் இவரிடம் இருந்தது.

Eventually he felt the call to enter the [[Dominican Order]], and he was received as a [[Third Order of Saint Dominic|tertiary]]. Years later, his piety and miraculous cures led his superiors to drop the racial limits on admission to the [[friar]]s, and he was made a full Dominican. It is said that when his [[convent]] was in debt, he implored them: "I am only a poor [[mulatto]], sell me." Martin was deeply attached to the [[Blessed Sacrament]], and he was praying in front of it one night when the step of the altar he was kneeling on caught fire. When he was 34, after he had been given the habit of a coadjutor brother, Martin was assigned to the infirmary, where he was placed in charge and would remain in service until his death at the age of fifty-nine. His superiors saw in him the virtues necessary to exercise unfailing patience in this difficult role, and he never disappointed them. It was not long before miracles were attributed to him. Saint Martin also cared for the sick outside his convent, often bringing them healing with only a simple glass of water. He begged for alms to procure necessities the convent could not provide, and Providence always supplied.<ref>Vie du Bienheureux Martin de Porrès, by Fr. Arthur M. Granger, O.P.
