தற்சார்பு துணிவு (Free will) அல்லது தன்விருப்புக் கொள்கை என்பது கட்டற்ற முறையில் பிற தடங்கல் ஏதுமின்றி வேறுபட்ட செயல்பாட்டு வழிமுறைகளில் ஒன்றைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பதாகும்.[1][2]

ஒளிப்படம் ஒரு சிறுவன் நீர்நிலையில் குதிப்பதைக் கட்டுகிறது. மாந்தர் தங்களின் தற்சார்பு துணிபின்படி முடிவு (எ.கா:நீரில் குதித்தல்) எடுக்கின்றனர் என பரவலாக கருதப்படுகிறது.

தற்சார்பு துணிபு என்பது ஒழுக்கப் பொறுப்பு, பாராட்டல், குற்ற உணர்வு, பாவம், பிற தற்சார்பு துணிபுவழித் தேர்வில் மேற்கொள்ளும் செயல்களோடு மட்டுமே சார்ந்த தீர்வுகள் ஆகியவற்றோடு நெருக்கமாக பின்னப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.இது அறிவுரை, ஏற்கவைத்தல், விளக்குதல், தடுத்து நிறுத்தல் ஆகியவற்றோடும் தொடர்புடையதாகும். மரபாக, தற்சார்பு துணிபால் எடுக்கப்பட்ட செயல்கள் மட்டுமே பாராட்டப்படுகிறது அல்லது தூற்றப்படுகிறது. தற்சார்பு துணுவழித் தேர்வு வாய்ப்புக்கு ஏற்படும் அச்சுறுத்தல் பற்றிய பல வேறுபட்ட அக்கறைகள் உள்ளன. இவை இவற்றை எப்படி கருதிப் பார்க்கிறோம் என்பதைப் பொறுத்து அவை வேறுபடுவதால். விவாத்த்துக்கு உரியனவாக அமைகின்றன.

ஒருவகையில், மாந்தர் வலிமையான விடுதலை உணர்வைக் கொண்டுள்ளனர். இந்நிலை நாம் தற்சார்பு துணிபைக் கொண்டுள்ளோம் என்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.[11][12]மறுவகையில், தற்சார்பு துணிபு தவறானதோ எனும் உள்ளாக்க உணர்வும் நம்முள் நிலவுகிறது..[13][14]

இயற்பியல் விதியின்படியே முழுமையாகப் புறநிலை உலகம் இயங்குவதாக விளக்கும் பார்வையைச் சார்ந்தே, நினைவோடு எடுக்கும் முடிவுகள் அமைகின்றன எனும் உள்ளுணர்வை நாம் மாற்றிக்கொள்வது மிகவும் அரியதே.[15] உள்ளுணர்வுவழி உணரும் விடுதலைக்கும் இயற்கை விதிக்கும் இடையிலான முரண்பாடு இயற்பியல் தீர்மானவாதத்தை உறுதிபடுத்தும்போதோ அல்லது காரணமுடைமையை புறந்தள்ளும்போதோ அல்லது மறுக்கும்போதோ உருவாகிறது. காரணமுடைமையை மறுக்கும்போது அல்லது புறந்தள்ளும்போது, புறநிலை நிகழ்ச்சிக்குப் புற உலகத்துக்கு அப்பாலான காரணம் உருவாகிறது; இயற்பியல் தீர்மானவாதத்தை உறுதிபடுத்தும்போது எதிர்காலம் முன் நிகழ்ந்த நிகழ்ச்சிகளைச் சார்ந்து அமைகிறது, அதாவது முதல்-விளைவு விதியைப் பின்பற்றுகிறது.

தற்சார்பு துணிபைத் தீர்மானநிலை உலகத்தோடு எதிர்கொள்ளும் புதிர் தற்சார்பின் சிக்கல் அல்லது சிலபோது தீர்மானவாதத்தின் முரண்புதிர் அல்லது தீர்மானவாதத்தின் இருமைநிலை எனப்படுகிறது.[16] இந்த முரண்புதிர் ஒழுக்கநெறி முரண்புதிருக்கும் இட்டுச் செல்கிறது: கடந்தகால நிகழ்ச்சிகளால் முழுமையாக ஏற்படும் செயல்களுக்கு ஒழுக்கப் பொறுப்பை எப்படிக் குறிப்பிடுவது எனும் கேள்வி எழுகிறது.[17][18]

பொருந்துமைவாதிகள் மன உலகம் முதல்-விளைவு விதியை முழுமையாக பின்பற்றுவதில்லை என நிலைநிறுத்துகின்றனர்.[19][20] செவ்வியல்காலப் பொருந்துமைவாதிகள் புறத்தில் இருந்துகட்டுபடுத்தாதவரை அல்லது திணிக்கப்படாதவரை தற்சார்பு துணிபு இயலும் என வாதிட்டுத் தற்சார்பு துணிபின் முரன்புதிரை விடுவித்துள்ளனர்.[21] புத்தியல் பொருந்துமைவாதிகளோ துணிபின் விடுதலையையும் செயல்பாட்டின் விடுதலையையும் பிரித்து பாகுபடுத்துகின்றனர்; அதாவது, தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் விடுதலையையும் அதைச் செயல்படுத்தும் விடுதலையையும் பிரித்துப் பார்க்கின்றனர்.[22] அனைத்து மாந்தரும் தற்சார்பு துணிபைப் பட்டறிவுவழி உணர்வதால், சிலர் இந்த உள்ளுணர்வையும் கணக்கில் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என வாதிடுகின்றனர். [23][24] பொருந்துமைவாதிகள் எப்போதும் தற்சார்பு துணிபை பகுத்தறிவால் முடிவுகளை எடுக்கும் திறமையோடு பொருத்துகின்றனர்.
