The year 2005 was a foundational year for Tamil Wikipedia. Content development, site layout design, categorization, software development, translation, protocol evolution, and promotion witnessed significant progress in 2005. The target 1000 essays count was met, and a new target of 10 000 essays was set. Although the number of essays matters, Tamil Wikipedians have recognized that neutral point of view, open access, multi lingual approach, quality, user confidence, and community are more important. The purpose of the "2005 Tamil Wikipedia Annual Review" is to note the progress and to vision a course for the near and distant future. The Annual Review calls for any Wikipedia user to add her/his Comments, particularly about the 2005 activities, and how and where Tamil Wikipedia may proceed in 2006. In requesting for such Comments, it is important to note that Tamil Wikipedia does not follow any planned or strict guidelines about its future activities. The Annual Review is simply one expression about Tamil Wikipedia among many others, such as விக்கிபீடியா:ஆலமரத்தடி, விக்கிபீடியா பேச்சு:பக்க வகைகளின் கட்டமைப்பு. As with any Wikipedia initiative this is a holistic, co operative undertaking, which any individual or group can alter to better it.
