சகாரா மணல் விரியன் என்பது ஒரு பாம்பாகும். இப்பாம்பு இனம் பாதுகாப்பாக மணல்களுக்குள் ஊர்ந்து சென்று வாழும் தன்மை கொண்டது. மணல் பகுதிகளுக்குள் மறைந்திருந்து திடீரெனத்தாக்கி இரையைப் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளும் ஆற்றலையும் கொண்டது. இதன் உயிரியற் பெயர் Cerastes vipera என்பதாகும். இது வடக்கு ஆபிரிக்காவிற்கு சொந்தமான உயிரினம், இதனை சினாய் தீபகற்பத்திலும் காணலாம்.
