சரஸ்வத் பிராமணர்
சரஸ்வத் பிராமணர் (Saraswat Brahmin) எனப்படுவோர் இந்தியாவின் இந்து பிராமணர்களின் உட்பிரிவினர் ஆவர். இவர்கள் பழங்கால சரசுவதி ஆறு ஓடிய பகுதியில் வாழ்ந்தவர்கள். சரஸ்வதி ஆறு ரிக் வேதத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.சரஸ்வத் பிராமணர்கள் ஐந்து பஞ்ச கௌடர் பிராமண சமூகங்களில் ஒன்றாக குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.[1][2][3][4] பெருபாலான காஷ்மீர பண்டிதர்கள் சரஸ்வத் பிராமணர் பிரிவை சேர்த்தவர்களே.[5] இவர்கள் பெரும்பாலும் சைவ உணவு உண்பவர்கள்[6] என்றாலும் வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கு இந்தியாவைச் சேர்ந்த சரஸ்வத் பிராமணர்கள் தங்கள் உணவில் மீன்களைச் சேர்த்துள்ளனர்[7][8][9] [10] [11]

சொற்பிறப்பு
தொகுவிந்திய மலைக்கு வடக்கே உள்ள ஸரஸ்வதி நதிக்கரையைப் பூர்விகமாகக் கொண்டவர்கள் என்பதால் சரஸ்வத் பிராமணர்கள் என்ற பெயரில் அறியப்படுகின்றனர்.[1]
