மார்த்தா ஆன் செல்பி

மார்த்தா ஆன் செல்பி ( Martha Ann Selby) இந்தியவியலிலும் தமிழிலும் ஆய்வு செய்யும் ஒர் அமெரிக்கப் பேராசிரியர். அமெரிக்காவில் ஆசுட்டின் (Austin) நகரில் உள்ள தெக்குசாசு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் ஆசியவியல் துறையில் பேராசிரியராகவும் துறைத்தலைவராகவும் பணியாற்றினார். இவர் தெக்குசாசு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் இருபது ஆண்டுகளாக இருந்திருக்கின்றார். அமெரிக்காவில் உள்ள ஆர்வேடு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் நிறுவப்பெற்றுள்ள சங்கம் தமிழிருக்கைப் பேராசிரியர் பதவியில் முதன் முதலாக அமர்பவராகத் தேர்வு செய்யப்பெற்றுள்ளார்.

கல்வி

மார்த்தா செல்பி பழந்தமிழ், பிராகிருதம், சமற்கிருதம் ஆகிய மொழி இலக்கியங்களில் ஆய்வு செய்துள்ளார்.சமற்கிருத மருத்துவ இலக்கியத்திலும், தற்காலத் தமிழ்ப் புதினங்களிலும் ஆய்வு ஆர்வம் கொண்டுள்ளார். தமிழ் சங்கப்பாடல்களில் அகத்துறையைச் சேர்ந்த ஐநூறு பாடல்களை மொழிபெயர்த்துள்ளார். திலீப்குமார் கதைகளை மொழிபெயர்த்துள்ளார்.
