வெண்சுருட்டு

வெண்சுருட்டு (cigarette) என்பது எரியக்கூடிய பொருளான புகையிலையை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒரு குறுகிய உருளை ஆகும். இது புகைபிடிப்பதற்காக மெல்லிய காகிதத்தில் உருட்டப்படுகிறது. வெண்சுருட்டு ஒரு முனையில் பற்றவைக்கப்படுகிறது. இதன் விளைவாக வரும் புகை எதிர் முனை வழியாக வாய்வழியாக உள்ளிழுக்கப்படுகிறது. சுருட்டு புகைத்தல் என்பது புகையிலை நுகர்வுக்கான மிகவும் பொதுவான முறையாகும். பொதுவாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் வெண்சுருட்டு என்ற சொல், புகையிலை வெண்சுருட்டைக் குறிக்கிறது. ஆனால் இது சில நேரங்களில் கஞ்சா சுருட்டு அல்லது மூலிகை சுருட்டு போன்ற பிற பொருட்களைக் குறிக்கப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. ஒரு வெண்சுருட்டு ஒரு சுருட்டிலிருந்து அதன் வழக்கமாக சிறிய அளவு, பதப்படுத்தப்பட்ட இலைகளின் பயன்பாடு, வெவ்வேறு புகைபிடிக்கும் முறை மற்றும் பொதுவாக வெள்ளை நிறத்தில் இருக்கும் காகிதம் சுற்றுதல் ஆகியவற்றால் வேறுபடுத்தப்படுகிறது. சமீபத்திய ஆண்டுகளில், புகைபிடித்தல் மற்றும் உள்ளிழுத்தல் ஆகிய இரண்டும் நிகோடின் மற்றும் பிற பொருட்களை உட்கொள்ளும் முறைகளாக மாறிவிட்டன. பாரம்பரிய வெண்சுருட்டுகளை புகைப்பதைவிட உள்ளிழுத்தல் பாதுகாப்பானது என்று பலர் நம்புகிறார்கள். ஆனால், இரண்டு நடைமுறைகளுடனும் தொடர்புடைய உடல்நல அபாயங்கள் முக்கியமான வழிகளில் வேறுபடுகின்றன.
