பெனே இசுரேல்

பெனே இசுரேல் (Bene Israel; "இசுரேலின் புதல்வர்கள்", முன்பு இந்தியாவில் "சுதேச யூதச் சாதி" எனப்பட்டனர்[4]) எனப்படுவோர் இந்தியாவில் உள்ள யூத வரலாற்றுக் சமூகத்தினர் ஆவர். இவர்கள் இழந்துபோன பத்து கோத்திரத்தித்தின் வாரிசுகள் என கருதப்படுகிறார்கள்.[5]

18 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் இரண்டாம் பாதியில் தொடங்கி,[6] நெறிமுறையான செபராது யூதம் பற்றி அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பிக்கப்பட்ட பிறகு,[7][8] அவர்கள் கொங்கண் மண்டலத்தில் உள்ள கிராமங்களிலிருந்து பிரித்தானிய இந்தியா முழுவதுமாக அருகிலுள்ள நகரங்களுக்கு குடிபெயர்ந்தனர்.[9][6][10] 1796 இல் அவர்களின் முதல் தொழுகைக்கூடம் மும்பையில் திறக்கப்பட்டது.[11][6][12][13] மேலும் புனே, அகமதாபாத் மற்றும் கராச்சி (இப்போது பாகிஸ்தானில் உள்ளது) ஆகிய இடங்களிலும் தொடர்ந்தது.[14] அங்கு அவர்கள் பிரித்தானிய காலனித்துவ அரசாங்கம் மற்றும் பிரித்தானிய இந்திய இராணுவத்தில் முக்கிய பதவிகளைப் பெற்றனர்.
