டேவிடு யூம்

டேவிடு யூம் (David Hume) (பிறப்பு: மே 7, 1711; இறப்பு: ஆகத்து 25, 1776) எசுக்காத்துலாந்து நாட்டைச் சார்ந்த மெய்யியலார், வரலாற்றாசிரியர், பொருளாதார அறிஞர், எழுத்தாளர் ஆவார். அவரது மெய்யியல் பாணி "புலனறிவு மெய்யியல்" (philosophical empiricism) மற்றும் "ஐயுறு மெய்யியல்" (philosophical skepticism) என்னும் வகையைச் சார்ந்தது. மேற்கத்திய மெய்யியலின் முதன்மையான அறிஞர்களுள் ஒருவராக யூம் கருதப்படுகிறார். மேலும், எசுக்காத்துலாந்து அறிவொளி இயக்க வழிகாட்டியாகவும் அவர் போற்றப்படுகிறார்.[1] பிரித்தானிய புலனறிவு மெய்யியல் என்னும் சிந்தனை வகையாளராக, டேவிடு யூம், ஜான் லாக், ஜோர்ஜ் பார்க்லி, மற்றும் சில மெய்யியலார்களோடு இணைத்துக் குறிப்பிடப்படுவதுண்டு.[2]
