மதேசி மக்கள்

இந்தியாவில் உள்ள ஓர் இனக்குழு

மதேசி (நேபாளி: मधेसी) என்பது நேபாளத்தின் மதேஷ், தருஹட் சமவெளிப் பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு இனக்குழு ஆகும்.[19][20][21] பொதுவாக மதேசிகள் என்பது நேபாளத்தைப் பூர்விகமாகக் கொண்டவர்களையும், இந்திய வம்சாவளி நேபாளிகளையும், இந்தியாவின் பிகார், உத்தரப்பிரதேச மாநிலங்களிலிருந்து இடம்பெயர்ந்து சர்ச்சைக்குரிய 2007ஆம் ஆண்டு நேபாளக் குடியுரிமைச் சட்டப்படி குடியுரிமை பெற்றவர்களையும் உள்ளடக்கியே குறிக்கிறது.[22][23][24][25] "மதேசி" என்பது, நேபாளத்தின் தராய் சமவெளிப் பகுதி முழுமையையும் சுட்டும் "மதேஷ்" என்ற நிலப்பகுதியில் வசிக்கும் மக்களைக் குறிக்க, மலைப்பகுதி மக்களான தாரு மக்கள் சூட்டிய பெயராகும்.[26]
