Canis vulpes
(லின்னேயசு, 1758) | |
மிகப் பெரியதாகும். ஊனுண்ணி வரிசையின் மிகப் பரவலாக வாழுகின்ற விலங்குகளில் ஒன்றாகும். ஆர்க்டிக் வட்டம் முதல் வட ஆப்பிரிக்கா, வட அமெரிக்கா மற்றும் ஐரோவாசியா எனப் புவியின் வட அரைக்கோளம் முழுவதும் காணப்படுகிறது. தீவாய்ப்புக் கவலை குறைந்த இனம் என பன்னாட்டு இயற்கைப் பாதுகாப்புச் சங்கத்தால் பட்டியலிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. மனிதப் பரவலுடன் இதுவும் பரவியுள்ளது. ஆத்திரேலியாவிற்கும் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
