சிறந்த பெண் பின்னணிப் பாடகருக்கான தேசியத் திரைப்பட விருது (National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer) 1968 முதல், ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் இந்திய தேசியத் திரைப்பட விருதுகள் விழாவில் அந்தந்த ஆண்டில் வெளிவந்த இந்தியத் திரைப்படங்களில் பின்னணி பாடிய பெண் பாடகர்களில் சிறந்தவரைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து வழங்கி சிறப்பிக்கப்படுகிறது.

இவ்விருதில்,1974 ஆம் ஆண்டுவரை ஒரு நினைவுத் தட்டும் சான்றிதழும் அளிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. 1975 இலிருந்து வெள்ளித் தாமரையும் சான்றிதழும், 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 61 ஆவது விழாவில் ₹50,000 (US$630) பணப் பரிசும் அளிக்கப்படுகிறது இவ்விருதுபெற்ற முதல் பாடகர் பி. சுசீலா ஆவார். உயர்ந்த மனிதன் தமிழ்த் திரைப்படத்தில் பி. சுசீலா பாடிய நாளை இந்த நேரம் பார்த்து ஓடிவா நிலா..., என்ற பாடலுக்காக 16 ஆவது தேசியத் திரைப்பட விருதுகள் விழாவில் அவருக்கு இவ்விருது வழங்கப்பட்டது. இவ்விருதினை அதிகமுறை பெற்றவர்களில் பின்னணிப் பாடகர் சித்ரா (ஆறு முறை) முன்னணியில் உள்ளார். இரண்டாவது நிலையில் உள்ளவர் ஐந்து முறை விருதுபெற்றப் பாடகர் பி. சுசீலா. 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டு நிலவரப்படி, எஸ். ஜானகி, சிரேயா கோசல் இருவரும் நான்குமுறையும்,லதா மங்கேஷ்கர், வாணி ஜெயராம் இருவரும் மூன்று முறையும் இவ்விருது பெற்றுள்ளனர். ஆஷா போஸ்லே, ஆல்கா யாக்னிக், ஆரத்தி அங்காலிகர் (Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar) மூவரும் இருமுறை இவ்விருது பெற்றுள்ளனர். மூன்று வெவ்வேறு மொழிப்பாடல்களைப் பாடி இவ்விருதினைப் பெற்றவர்கள் எஸ். ஜானகி, சித்ரா, சிரேயா கோசல் ஆவர். ஒரே ஆண்டில் இரு வெவ்வேறு மொழிகளில் பாடிய இரு வெவ்வேறு பாடல்களுக்காக இவ்விருதினைப் பெற்ற ஒரே பாடகர் சிரேயா கோசல் மட்டுமே ஆவார். உத்ரா உன்னிகிருஷ்ணன்தான் (10 வயதில்) இவ்விருதினைப் பெற்ற இளம் பாடகர்.[1][2] ஏ. எல். விஜய் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான சைவம் தமிழ்த் திரைப்படத்தில் இவர் பாடிய "அழகு"... பாடலுக்காக இவருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது[3]. 1973 ஆண்டுக்கு இவ்விருது எவருக்கும் வழங்கப்படவில்லை.
